The Relevance of Scientific Journals in the Dissemination of Knowledge
Keywords:
Scientific journals, Knowledge dissemination, Scientific production, Latin American universitiesAbstract
Exploring the surrounding world and seeking answers to everyday problems is an innate activity that drives scientific research. Research is an intellectual, reflective, and critical activity that, in most cases, results in indexed scientific publications. Currently, only 2.46% of the journals indexed in Scopus are from Latin America, and the region's scientific output accounts for only 4.19% of the world total. It is essential that Latin American universities and governments strengthen scientific journals to improve their international positioning and allow society to understand the results of research, which is funded by the community itself.
