Abstract

The growing worldwide energy demand requires the design of more efficient generation systems. In wind energy, one control strategy is pitch regulation. This paper presents the design and construction of a testing bench for experimental evaluation of pitch control strategies in small wind turbines. Rotor operation and pitch regulation were tested in a wind tunnel. Two controllers were implemented: a PI controller and a fuzzy logic-based controller.
