Abstract

Currently, all organizations support their business processes by incorporating software products that need to be modified during their lifecycle. This article reviews important considerations for specifying the maintainability attribute of software and how to validate it later. It addresses challenges in the maintenance process, maintainability-related metrics, and recommendations for proper specification. The conclusion emphasizes the need to collect historical data on changes made to the software to assess whether it should be maintained or replaced.
