Technology transfer is the movement of knowledge and inventions for the benefit of society. This can be done through research publications, scientific conferences, formal and informal relationships with industry, and the incorporation of highly skilled human resources. In times of crisis, societies look to universities for answers, which would be more effective if they had strong support for research, innovation, and technology transfer. The importance of state and private support for research and the creation of networks between universities, companies, and industries for economic and social development is emphasized.
