This article describes the development of a Remote Terminal Module, scalable and compatible with the diversity of sensors and actuators available in the market. The device was designed for automation and monitoring of agro-industrial processes, with the possibility of on-site intervention or through Internet of Things (IoT) services. The system includes programmable digital and analog ports, USB OTG, and a 1-wire bus for connecting various sensors, such as temperature, pH, relative humidity, and oxygen levels, among others. The actuators are configured based on events or an electronic calendar using a real-time clock (RTC). Data is recorded locally or through cloud computing services via TCP/IP, GSM, SMS, EGPRS, 3G, and 4G protocols. The system can be accessed remotely or locally via USB OTG or Bluetooth devices. The module consists of three subsystems: software, hardware, and communication. The project lifecycle followed a V-model, integrating SCRUM methodology for software development. The system was validated under IEEE 1012-2016 standard, with tests conducted on agricultural crops in Casanare, Colombia.
