Time-Delay Selection in Poincaré Plot: Assessing Sedation-Analgesia Levels with EEG Signals

The Poincaré plot is a non-linear method used to analyze signal variability by plotting a signal against itself with a time delay. This study applies this method to electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis for measuring light sedation levels in 110 patients undergoing digestive endoscopy. Poincaré plot indexes were combined with EEG and electromyography (EMG) spectral parameters, achieving an optimal sedation level prediction (Pk=0.711) with an 8 ms delay for high frequencies (30-110 Hz) and a 6 ms delay for low frequencies (0.5-30 Hz). Combining different parameters resulted in a Pk value of 0.799.
