Abstract

Shape memory alloys are materials capable of remembering their previous form when subjected to stimuli such as electrical, magnetic, or thermal variations. This paper presents the design of an electric energy supply system for muscle wires, based on a buck converter. The system includes a fuzzy logic-based control stage to regulate the current through the muscle wire. Simulation results show that the current is adapted to a maximum value specified by the wire manufacturer, even in the presence of disturbances.
