Augmented reality (AR) is a type of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that merges the real world with virtual interfaces to improve an individual’s interactions with the environment. In education, AR has been found to offer various benefits for students, including increasing motivation for learning tasks and cultivating a positive attitude toward success. This research aims to analyze the existing literature on the use of AR in preschool education and basic education in its early years. The research will utilize the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases to identify the benefits, challenges, and practical applications of AR in education. The aim is to establish a foundation for the future development of interactive educational solutions that combine physical and digital elements. The study will also examine how students interact with this technology, as AR goes beyond concerns of how it is presented to include how it is intuitive delivery to the user. Furthermore, the study will explore methods for more effective learning among students at these educational stages. Hence, implementing ICT in various educational stages, particularly in the early years of human development, can provide significant benefits for understanding the fundamental concepts taught in the early years of education.
