Abstract

This work presents a chronological review of the most important wear models developed over the last seventy years. It also analyses the model’s hypothesis based on experimental observations of the wear’s progression. The results from this analysis show that the models which use the wear rate variable in the time have better accordance with experimental observations. This hypothesis is not used in most of the studied models.
