Abstract

The objective of this article is to examine technology management and innovation models aimed at developing a methodology to produce biodegradable biomaterials. The methodology is proposed based on a qualitative review of literature on practices, methods, and processes related to technology management and innovation in the development of biodegradable biomaterials from reincorporable organic waste. A search was conducted in scientific databases and academic literature, and 60 documents were selected that presented methodological components related to biotechnology and bioplastics. Among the findings, it is evident that not all models consider the stages after product launch, and it is necessary to document the events that generate learning to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Technology management and innovation models have become more dynamic and proactive as they have evolved and incorporated tools such as foresight and technological surveillance. The importance of integrating work in interdisciplinary and interdepartmental teams in fifth-generation models is also highlighted. It is concluded that it is feasible to extract different elements, components, and tools that may form a possible proposal for a Technology and Innovation Management Methodology that contributes to the development of biodegradable biomaterials obtained from reincorporable organic waste for the packaging and plastics industry and market.
