The Fourier Transform is applied in the analysis of the surface wear of the annular cam of the high-pressure pump DENSO HP3 using a 20% ecological fuel mixture of diesel-surfactant-water. The mixture reduces emissions, enhances thermal efficiency, torque, and power of the engine. After 200 hours of operation at 3000 rpm with inspections every 50 hours, a mass reduction of 0.121 grams was detected on the cam, with a wear of 22.33% on the front face and 40.35% on the rear face. Results show premature wear on the cam surfaces due to the ecological fuel mixture.
