Abstract

Optical networks have become high-speed networks, where switches must respond to requests at unprecedented rates. Dynamic traffic has caused the routing and wavelength assignment problem to be unsolvable with optimization processes, leading to the emergence of heuristic algorithms. These do not seek to optimize but to find suitable solutions. In this research, an algorithm based on fungal hyphae is proposed, improving the studied indicators compared to previous heuristics, showing promising results and standing out among bioalgorithms.
