Comparative study of classical PID control algorithms for the angular control of an electromechanical arm

It is estimated that around 70% of industrial control loops use classical PID control algorithms (Proportional Integral Derivative), with the Parallel PID being the most common. This study evaluates the performance of several PID implementations for the angular control of an arm manipulated by a Brushless motor. The controllers were programmed in C++ and tested in simulations and real-time. The results show that the Parallel PID algorithm was the most effective in achieving control objectives.
