The future electrical networks

Abstract

In recent years, significant efforts have been made to encourage the use of new energy sources in electricity generation, reducing the use of fossil fuels in the quest for sustainability and environmental preservation. These incentives have created a new scenario for electrical grids, where concepts such as flexibility, resilience, and Smart Grids are becoming increasingly important. This article discusses how the incorporation of new technologies, such as power converters, energy storage, and electric vehicles, is transforming the operation of electrical networks. Additionally, proposals such as the Energy Internet project a future where prosumers are integrated into distribution networks as easily as connecting devices to the Internet.
