Impact of Standardization and Scaling: factor to predicting costs in projects through artificial neural network

Abstract

This paper presents a comparison of standardization and scaling methods in cost predicting. Four methods were used for pre-processing the dataset; afterward, data were processed through an artificial neural network (ANN). The first step was to build common variables in project information based on project managers’ opinions. The second step simulated a dataset provided by CRConsulting. Lastly, the comparison results were presented through adjustment models according to the applied method, showing that scaling methods improve cost prediction.
