Meaningful learning with active teaching strategy for a software project course. An experience in northern Chile

In the teaching of subjects related to software projects, the incorporation of active learning methodologies has brought good results in computer science and computing engineering careers. During the last 20 years, the Learning plus Service (A + S) methodology has contributed significantly to these results. This article describes the results of an active teaching strategy in the Programming Workshop subject of the Technical Engineering in Computing and Informatics career. Using this strategy, skills such as software design and implementation with object-oriented programming, software quality, teamwork, communication, and self-management have been developed, all necessary for the professional development of 21st-century students.
