Abstract

Privileged solar radiation conditions in northern Chile have allowed the installation of large photovoltaic plants, contributing to the expansion of the country's energy matrix with renewable energy sources. However, the high radiation available for electricity generation is not accessible to the entire population due to the costs of residential installation, lack of information, and limited public policies. Establishing energy cooperatives is a solution to increase the use of renewable energies and facilitate access for a larger population, promoting social cohesion, the democratization of energy use, and transparency in its management.
